- October 28, 2009...Fall Fest Community Outreach 2009 will go down as a great success for Shawnee and the surrounding area. Shawnee Rescue Mission/Labor of Love Charities and 100-plus volunteers from many area churches and businesses came together for a wonderful day in Woodland Veteran's Park last week. With food and drinks supplied by local businesses, over 3,500 meals were served. At least 550 families were given a wide variety of foods/supplies provided by Feed the Children.
